Welcome Week
Well, Welcome Week is finally upon us and the LGBTQ events will be taking place this week. This blog entry is to basically a quick summary of what we have planned.
Door-knocking at Halls

Monday 21st/Tuesday 22nd September, afternoons - Sarah and I set the foundation for this at Res-exec; committee members are going to visit Jarrett, the Vale and Prichatts Park, door knock and raise awareness. Naturally we don't expect there to be a large proportion of 'out' LGBTQ students, but we expect word to spread in some form; speaking to non-LGBTQ students is condusive to improving the association's visibility to Freshers.
We're distributing flyers around halls on Monday and Tuesday - one per flat. The freshers booklet will handed out at the societies fair stall on Thursday.
Coffee and befriending afternoon
Wednesday 23th, afternoon - meet and greet in the LGBTQ room, wherein new and returning students can sit and chat with each other and committee members over coffee. It's a great way to start off our events this year by getting people together, making friends and forming friendship groups. This will be advertised as part of our freshers booklets and when we doorknock at halls of residence.
Societies Fair
Thursday 24th, all day - We'll have a stall at the most well-attended Guild fair of Welcome Week. Members can sign up to the new mailing list, pick up a booklet and details of events for freshers and beyond, and grab a selection of tasteful freebies. This - along with the barcrawl - is the biggest impression we can make on new and returning students...so that'll be a key focus at today's committee meeting.
Freshers Barcrawl
Blood Donation Stall
Friday 25th, all day - I'll be running this alongside the National Blood Service visit. See My blog post on the NBS and and my pre-Freshers week-update post for more details.
Chic's Little Miss Mondays

Monday 28th, evening - Inter-University event; great chance to introduce women from various Universities to each other AND to Birmingham's Lesbian Scheme (More details)
